We teach classes in histology, embryology and cytophysiology.
Histology describes the microscopic structure of cells and tissues, and cytophysiology the molecular mechanisms of their biology. Classes in embryology - the science of embryo and fetal development - specifically discuss the first three weeks of development.
Practical classes are held with the use of microscopes, under which Students view histological preparations of properly constructed tissues. The knowledge gained in this way is the foundation for the study of pathomorphology in the later stages of education. During seminars and lectures, special emphasis is placed on linking the structure to the function of tissues and organs, thus laying a bridge between macroscopic anatomy and clinical physiology.
The Department is based in the Anatomicum building, at 5 Chałubińskiego Street
